Question: Any acting tips for performing a monologue!?

All very good advice!. Best instruction I was ever given is know who you are talking to!. When we do a monologue, we're not just talking to air, but to someone!. I!.E!., God, your father/mother, your best friend, a priest, and so on!. This can change at various points in the monologue, depending upon what the character's intention is!. Always be specific in your choices!. We don't just talk to the air, but to someone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What you really have to do is mentally put yourself in that situation!.
Don't think about being the character, you need to feel you are the character!.
That's mainly why most acting teachers stress reading the whole play than doing the monologue!.
If you know what happened just before you have to say what you need to in your monologue, than you'll be more into it!.
also never say um, and try not to look straight at the people you're auditioning for!.
Picture someone sitting up and right behind them!.
And don't change that spot!.
When you're talking to someone they usually don't go from one side of the room to the other!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse your monologue until it rolls off of your tongue without you even thinking about it! Because when you're not worrying about remembering the next line, you're free to focus on delivery!. also, I think it both adds character and makes memorization easier to assign certain gestures to parts of your monologue where it makes sense!. Think about this, though, less would be more if you were working with a shy character!. also, I wouldn't stare at the directors face while delivering!. Pick a spot on the wall, maybe near to them, if you need a focus point!. Break a leg! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
