I am writing a play now that is a modernization of St!. Giovanna Maria Bonomo called The Feast of Jovi Bono!. Giovanna asked in the 1600s -- is it right that we should give the worst to the poor!? I am going off that with a snappy modern story of Jovi -- a single mom with her daughter; her ex; her male best friend; and random people who come over for dinner!.

That is the gist anyway!. I am still working on the synopsis but I also have created a lot of dialog scenes and material!.

You can take your favorite story from the Bible and ask yourself (or ask a commentary) what are the spiritual truths to come out of this story!? Then set it in our time so it is relateable and build the characterization by wondering what would this person be doing if he/she lived today!?

The prophet Amos was the lowliest of all of the lowly shepherds in his time when God used him for prophecy!. Who would he be in our society!? Homeless!? A person with AIDS!? A custodian!? Squeegying windows at the stoplight!? How would God use him!? Or would he be a regular guy with an apartment and struggle with loneliness until something happened!?

What about Esther!? She saved Israel with her looks and charisma (and God and some talent too)!. To carry out God`s plan she had beauty treatments and charm lessons!. How might that play out today!? Could someone on a mission from God succeed in our celebrity/glamour obsessed world to accomplish it!? How would someone react if God told her/him to use his looks and charm and talent to do His will!?

What about David!? As a youngster he had the great faith to defeat the giant Goliath!. What giants exist for kids today they would need God to defeat against all odds!? Bullies!? Gangs!? Low expectations!? As he got older I see him as a talented musician but an artist who might have been considered lazy - sitting around the palace with Jonathan playing riffs on his lyre or harp!. Later he became king -- saw a beautiful woman -- wanted her -- sinned with her -- could not cover up his sin so he had her husband whacked on the battlefield!. Hmm!.!.!.I see lots of parallels with an ultimate climax of begging God not to ``cast me away from your presence!.``

I hope this at least got some creative heat going for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
