If you are thinking about moving there, you will want to find out as much as you can about Hollywood and how things work there!.
If you want to start an acting career, before you move to Hollywood, I would think about working on my acting skills, by taking classes and training!. You could do it there too if you want, but just make sure that you are knowledgeable about the area and the industry!.
also, I believe you will need a winning attitude, drive, determination, business savvy, networking skills and ideally at least a little passive income!. Connections to the industry could also be helpful!.
I recently interviewed a Hollywood acting coach named Bernard Hiller, who said that Hollywood is like the Olympics of acting!. Many of the best actors in the world are there and working!. If you want to compete, you have to be good and well trained!. He also said that it's not about who you know, but more about who WANTS to know you!
In this interview he talks about what he things are the six things that people need to know about moving to Hollywood to start an acting career!.

Once you reach a level where your ready for an agent or manager, they will tell you whether it would be in your better interest to change your name to something more manageable!.
As for your "career", here's a tip, don't set a certain number of years on it, because most likely it won't happen in that amount of time ( a year or two)!. You have to be in it for the long haul, most working actors pursue it as a career anywhere from 5-10 years before finally getting a "break" or getting to a point where their making enough money that it's actually a career!.
So, just keep training, keep auditioning, build up your resume!. Check into local agencies and see what their submission procedures are!. Are you going to study theatre in college!? Location is everything!. Read some books on the business side of acting, that will give you a clearer idea of what you need to do!.
