I simply don't understand Wicked and what it's trying to say!. The cd came with no synopsis and I've not read the book or seen the show (no interest in that)!. The test of a great score is being able to listen to it, out of context and still know what's going on!. That's impossible with Wicked!. Just a lot of short jokes about the munchkins ("One Short Day" - get it!?)!. Schwartz definitely produced better scores with The Baker's Wife (a masterpiece) and even Pippin (at least entertaining)!.
Give me the Wizard of Oz any (not short) day!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can still watch it, but that's probably because I was in a production of the Wizard of Oz!. And the descendants of L!. Frank Baum live 2 houses down from me!.

It didn't necessarily ruin my view of The Wizard of Oz, it just made sense of a lot of things!. I have the script for both, so I know how all the scenes in the second act fall in accordance to the ones in Wizard of Oz!. The Scarecrow was always my favorite of the group, and now because he was Fiyero, I think that connection explains a lot!. Especially how much Elphaba picks on the Scarecrow but never really harms him!. Boq on the other hand becomes a Tin Man with a vendetta against Elphaba, who saved him from Nessa's spell I might add!.

also, if you notice, Dorothy isn't the true exact root of all of Elphaba's problems!. Glinda is!. All it involves is looking at the Dancing Through Life scenes and its right there!. She gives Elphaba the hat, convinces Nessarose that Boq loves her, and tricks Boq into taking Nessa to the dance!.

I absolutely love both the musical and the book!. To the point that I have both memorized!. To me, the Wizard of Oz makes the most sense when I think about it with both Wicked the musical and the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire in mind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I loved Wicked AND the Wizard of Oz!. I think that Wizard of Oz was magical and fun!. And Wicked gave a WHOLE new point of view on it!. It gave the Wicked Witch of the West a heart, and showed that good things can come in ugly packages!. Yes, it sort of made the Wizard of Oz and Dorothy and all of the others look like bad guys, but I think Wicked was interesting!. It's not even about whether Wicked makes the Wizard of Oz look different!. I usually don't associate the two when I think about them, honestly!. Yes, it is like a prequel, but Wicked is an individual musical of its own, and has its own story!. The bottom line is, no, I love both Wicked and the Wizard of Oz and it did not ruin my view of the Wizard of Oz!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wicked is not strickly the prologue of the Wizard of Oz!. The Wizard of Oz was a book written by L!. Frank Baum!. Baum died years before Gregory Maguire wrote Wicked!. so Wicked is, in a way, a glorified piece of fanfiction!. It's just an idea of what made the Wicked Witch of the West so wicked!. So don't take it so literally!.
I love Wicked, the musical and the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not at all!. The trick is to imagine where Wicked fits in during the movie, I just imagine that its one entire work!. If you hated Wicked and loved the Wizard of Oz, then you're SOL!. If you loved the show, then you have no problems!. Just wait for Universal to make a movie!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ruin!? No!. But seeing a projection of what led Elphaba to become "wicked" did widen my worldview!. It encouraged me to always consider the other side's point of view - a lesson that everyone should learn!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

NO it changed my veiw because it made me feel pissed towards the wizard and then i knew the scarecrow was fiero!. I quiete liked the ending of wicked I liked the wizard of oz ending!. don't feel upset be happy!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It didn't so much ruin my view of the Wizard of Oz as much as it made me question their motives in changing the ending!. I was very disappointed by the end of Wicked!. I felt cheated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The wizard of oz was like a dorky cheezy musical!. it was cute at first now it is annoying!!! Wicked triumped over it!. I can't get over how amazing it was!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No I am absolutely obsessed with Wicked!.!.!. if anything it made me like the musical better then the movieWww@QuestionHome@Com
