I'm in a play at a community theater with a pretty small part, but only because I was late to the auditions!. I'm 15 and a male!. Personally, I don't believe that a degree in acting or whatever means anything; what can they teach you in 4 years about acting anyway!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It takes years and years of acting and a lot of luck! If your getting roles at your local theaters then it's a good sign that you may have some ability!. If not then try a different career!. A degree in theater is not necessary!. Your not guaranteed to be an actor if that is what you want to know!. A degree in theater can get you as much as a job that has the phrase would like fries with that!. You don't have to go to college to be in plays!. The colleges even offer open auditions to the public!. The experience in being as many plays as you can is far more valuable!. Think about it, college for acting who needs to teach you how to play!? You can do that yourself and look at the experience you'll gain while being in a play!. Acting is simple and easy!. Acting classes are good for new contacts!. Nobody is going to look at you if you don't have a resume even if you attended college!. They want to see that you were in plays and that you auditioned for them and got the part!. By showing that on a resume agents have confidence in you and that casting directors will take the time to look at you!. They don't want someone who just attended college and got in college plays just because they were part of the class!. Showing up to auditions and competing to get a part is far more realistic!. also being 15 you will need your parents with you!. No one will sign you with out them unless you are 18yrs old!.Www@QuestionHome@Com a lot, my passion is music, and i probably could just go out into the world wanting to be in musical theater, but i decided to go to college, *** for music, im studying my passion, for the person above me, youll never be happy unless you follw what you truly want to do, if you really want to act, go for it in any way you can*** i'm only a few classes in and i've already learned tons i never even realized, and even if you don't get to be an actor right away, with a degree you could get a job working in a theater or on a production staff until your dream is realized, by not going to college your really boxing yourself in for job opportunities even in your own field of interestWww@QuestionHome@Com Please, don't throw yourself on acting, get a degree, you will absolutley regret it!. In the newspaper today they spoke about how acting is a job with such limited pay, yet thousands try so despertley to get into it!. Forget it, it's only a past time!.
