Question: Peforming!.!. a question on Performing!.!.!.Acting!.!.!?
In my drama class, we are performing monologues, so i want to ask about others monologues, soooo!.!.!.

What is your favourite monologue to perfrom and why!?

How do you work on it!?

Do you know straight away how to parform it (eg!. sad and loud or sad and quiet, or ANGRY!!!! when the actual mood is sad!.!.
My main problem is that i get a monologue and i see and emotion eg anger and thats how i do it, i dont try different ways to act it, cause it might be wrong and not fit!.

How do you feel, when you are on stage by yourself!?

When acting, what do you always do to make sure your performance is perfect!? eg/ make sure you change your pitch atleast once, use many movements ect!.!.!.!.

THANKS for your help, it will really help me also if you can include any more monologue helping tips!!

The more detail, the more chances of getting 12 points in total and knowing you helped a fellow actor, when they needed it!!

okay!.!.!.don't look at monologue as so concrete!. you can totally get away with calling a mono angry or sad or funny if you're talking about mood!. but when you approach it from the performance stand point, you can't slap a blanket emotion on it and expect to understand not only the emotion you're trying to portray but also the character's perspective!. once you get a monologue you have to brake it down!. if it's a piece of a bigger show, read the whole show, so you can get an idea of the context in which you're playing!. if it's just a mono, then you have more room to work but that means you actually have to do more work too!.!.!.you have to fill in the blanks instead of the author giving you all the given circumstances!. ask yourself A LOT of questions!. the main ones are: WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY!. now these questions may not exactly be pertinent for your performance, but it most definately will shape it!.!.!.make it less flat, and more realistic and three dimensional, in other words more believable!. it's the attention to detail!. okay, fine, it's sad!.!.!.why is she sad!? how does this character show they're sad!? why do they show it that way!? also, ask yourself this: what is my character's goal in the scene (in a perfect world, what would happen)!? because it's not a perfect world, what obstacles lie in the way of the character reaching their goals!?

and don't try and reach perfection when accomplishing a monologue!. go for honesty!. your first job, and really the ONLY job you have as an actor is TO TELL THE STORY!!! if you're honest, they're going to get the story!. but if you're worried about perfection, since there is no such thing, you're setting yourself up for failure!. be honest!.!.!.with the character, with your intentions, with the blocking!. don't move or say anything just to do!.!.!.motivate it!. yeah, you WANT to move to the chair in this scene but in the context of the character!.!.!.they wouldn't just move there cause they wanted to move around!.!.!.they go there to sit or to get off an achey foot or to get away from the window!.!.!.SOMETHING!. hopefully that helps! sometimes i ramble in my passion for theatre!!! break legs!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i dont have a specific monologue that is my favourite, but i do like the one and only monologue performed by the main character josh in the play "Bang Bang Youre Dead" that i was just in!. when i read a monologue i read it like i'm reading a book; i am that character i feel all the pain, happiness, sorrow, whatever that they feel and have ever felt, i do it exactly how it is, no more, no less!. its gotten me pretty far doing just that!. also some websites of monologues or monologue books will say a little bit about the character or setting before the actual mono starts (like the character is a boy or girl, age, where they are, etc!.) if it does say something like that i will do what i can to be their age (this is difficult if they are older than you, younger is quite easy) and where they live (ok so i ppl tell me i'm amazing w/ accents: i'm going to want to show off a tiny bit and it will fit the character more if it says they are lets say English from London, i'm going to speak exactly as if i'm from london!. without sounding fake of course) thats all for that!. for getting up on that stage i try not to overpractice anything, just minimally, that way i dont sound rehearsed or fake in any way and it helps reduce the nervousness!. i just try to get in my own little world briefly before or while i'm on the stage (that way you have no clue the audience is there really or you know theyre there but are really unimportant)Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favourite is one between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, its dramatic has passion tension power-crazy people control tradgedy and love!.Brilliant!.
I try different methods and see which one feels right and what would be right for the character i am trying to become!.
The thing to know your acting was perfect is- you will know at the end if you have done a good job and you can see from your audience/peers faces!.
When rehearsing make sure you know your lines but dont rehearse too much otherwise to-memorised seems un characteristic and un-natrual making it pointless, you want to keep realistic!.
On stage i feel first kinda consious everyone is watching me but then i feel free and there's no pressure, its my stage im the actress-its time to shine!
Good luck!Stay confident,smile and you'll be fine!Www@QuestionHome@Com
