If a play requires a dialect, the director should be ready to train the actors or hire someone who could!. I often recall a HS performace of Blithe Spirit for which the director made terrible blunders in directing the dialect!. Listening and imitating is not too bad a start!. Dialect coaches should be trained in dialects!. To really learn one, you would have to study with a dialect coach or director who really knew how to teach it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was in Noises Off Last fall!. We worked with a dialect coach and actually!.!.!. You-Tube was the best source for dialect examples!. Look at some of the British comedy shows (Black Adder, are you being served etc!.) as well as many of the dramas which often have a softer spoken form of the dialect!.

Try to work with others from your cast so you all have the same regional sound!.!.!. nothing is worse then have 6 different British people from different sections of Britain talking at once!.!.!.

Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
