If you are acting because you think it is fun and it certainly should be in a mellow drama, then have fun, remember to share the fun with the audience and enjoy it!. don't look over their heads, in mellow drama you play right to them, so look at them and smile and let them have fun too!. It is all a big joke, that everyone shares!. Repeat over and over, acting is playing and playing is fun, whenever I act I am going to have fun!. Over and over and over until you believe it and cannot wait to get out there and have fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The "technical" term for pre-show jitters is stage fright!. Many performers have stage fright before they go on!. Barbra Streisand still gets stage fright!.

Do not drink before you go on, it will make you forget your lines!.

Many actors channel this nervousness into "stage presence", an elusive quality that's hard to teach!. The best way I can describe it as imagining yourself expanding and filling the stage!.

I recommend slow, steady breathing as long as it doesn't interfer with your lines!. Thinking to yourself, "I am calm!. I am happy!."

Knowing your lines and the staging will also help you be less nervous!.

When I got the giggles (which happened a lot on stage), I would bite the inside of my cheeck!.

I've acted in a few plays before-- mostly low-key stuff!. But I have found that listening to some mellow music before the show can really calm me down!. I also avoid rehearsing my lines right before the show-- that just makes me worry more about forgetting them!

Good luck in your performance!Www@QuestionHome@Com

My grandma has been doing plays at the British Embassy for years, and she always has a glass of white wine before she goes and preforms!.

But she also keeps herself occupied before the show starts, be helping other people (I suppose to keep her mind of it)!. This may work better if your under 21!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

pretend the show is a rehersal
when your peforming stare straight at an object behind the audience
dont think about what other people are thinking
remember you and your group are an ensemble, you guys work together so have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com
