I'm not sure what you are doing (performing a monologue, you've written this piece) but I'll do my best to help!

Judging by the "physical theatre" this is not a monologue focused on speech, as there is:
1!. Very little speaking!.
2!. Multiple speaking characters (i!.e!. Guide, Sophie)

It is very physical, the actions of the character will totally portray the emotion of Sophie!.

PERSONALLY, I do not like this piece!. It is, indeed, hard to understand, not knowing the play, or having read the play (whatever it is)!. Don't let my personal opinion influence you though, it is just a note to you that my comments may be influenced!.

The "surrender" would better be portrayed by another character (death!?) leading Sophie, she goes at first reluctantly, then accepting!.

The guide should be portrayed as the voice you hear in a train or airport terminal!. Crisp, efficient, yet gently instructing!. The line "the camera will flash" does not make much sense!.

The "successful" scene, I interpret as a blend between Sophie living her memory, and choosing one!. Something should trigger her outburst!. Why is she insisting she is successful!?

The lights turning off and on is distracting from the characters actions!.

When talking about wanting to look "beautiful," is Sophie addressing the audience!? Is she talking to herself!? Adjust tense and who/what she talks to as appropriate!.

The masking tape at the end seems to serve no purpose like the makeup (and its streaking across her face) does!.

How does the "successful" correlate to the "beautiful!?" If she is choosing a memory, it works!. Otherwise, using beautiful in both instances (and maybe a picture as her angry trigger) would work better!.

Emotionally intense!. A few tweaks make it a piece that draws the audience into sharing Sophie's emotion!.

Hope I helped and hope you get well soon from your injuries!Www@QuestionHome@Com
