Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I think that it is always pretty cool to do a play that has not been done by every other junior high!. "Once Upon a Mattress" is hilarious with alot of parts for many people!. It was on Broadway ages ago and starred Carol Burnett!. It is the musical/comedy version of the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea"---the one about the young girl who was tested by her possible future queen mother-in-law as to whether she was really a princess!. Apparently true princesses are very sensitive so a tiny pea was placed under a huge stack of mattresses before the youg girl went to bed!. If she couldn't sleep, then she was declared a princess!. You need a strong female lead to play the princess!. Our college did this a few years ago--it was a big hit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Even though "Beauty and the Beast" would be a nice choice, I wouldn't suggest it for a junior high unless you have some huge voices for those roles!.!.!.sorry lady above me!. You want to do something that is centered around the talent in your school!. So if your school is extremely talented then you might want to do "Beauty and the Beast" or even a better idea for a junior high-" High school Musical!." Since your school did Seusicall jr!. then you might want to do something like "Sound of Music" or "Guys and Dolls!." My junior high did Guys and Dolls and we didn't have the talent most junior highs have!.!.!.and it was a good success!. Maybe "The little Mermaid," or some other type of disney musical!. But the main thing you want to do is look for musicals that are CENTERED around the talent level because to do the best musical in the world and have a lower talented bunch of kids isn't going to work!. I dont know if Wizard of Oz or West Side Story would be too hard!. You could probably pull it off!.
