Question: Audition monologue and song!?
I'm female, will be turning nineteen this month, and was thinking auditioning for Sweeney Todd at the local theatre!. My vocal range is soprano but I can easily dip into alto and I would like some things that would show off my range!. I was thinking of "Memory" from Cats!.

The monologue is what I am most concerned with!. I'm not sure yet if I need more than one, so I'd like a few back-ups!. I'd like some good, strong female characters!. I was thinking of Lizzie Barrie from The Libertine!. However, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

gooness gracious, sorry but just use a monologue and a song from the the actual musical!!!!

the directors and caster will always look for someone that can match what they want to see in a character!. what better than to really BE THE CHARACTER!. they know what they are looking for!. so bring them what they want to see!. something from the actual musical!. don't bring them something comedy for a musical that is dark dangerous and deadly!. find a song soprano/alto song from the musical! it shows you've don't your research, and it gives you more depth to get into character!.

it also makes it alot easier for them when they want to compare you to a character directly from the casting list!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't be worried!.!.!.since Sweeney Todd is a musical, casting directors generally tend to focus more on your vocal range than acting skills (unfortunately)!. Female---definitely something from the Vagina Monologues--that is if you can stand not to laugh at the word "vagina"Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are some great monologues form 5 Women Wearing The Same Dress and also some very good ones in How I Learned To Drive, the monologue A Mother's Guide To Social Drinking, is hilarious!Www@QuestionHome@Com
