All agents are free!. They get paid by negotiating a percentage of any jobs they help you procure!. It's negotiated up front and will be laid out in the contract you sign with them!. You NEVER pay an agent anything up front!. You don't say where you are, so the best I can do is say to look here: http://www!.sag!.org/node/667 or check out Ross Reports!. Just make sure it's a children's or all ages agency!. You'll need to take some snapshots of him to mass produce and send in as well as make up a cover letter as to why you are seeking representation for him!.

You should also be ready to quit if he shows signs of not wanting to be there if he is hired for a job!. It's torture for kids who are forced to be there when they don't want to be!. For the ones that love it!? It's torture for the parents :-) Long days, no pay, etc!. Truly a thankless job!.

You ought to consider calling the union to see if there's a parent workshop they recommend because in all honesty you don't sound like you have any idea what you're in for!. You really ought to be as informed as you can be before getting into this!. You need to know the labor laws in your state and any state your son may work in!. You need to know all the rules so that you may properly enforce them and help protect your son!. Again, you also need to walk away when he says, mommy this isn't fun anymore!.

good luck,

1!.)all agents are free so if one acts for money say NO!! they get 10-15% of the money your son will make
2!.)does he have any acting experience!?!?!? if not then i would wait to get him an agent becasue an agent will not pick him to represent when he has no experience so experience no money, no money for your son,no money for the agent and they will dump you and find someone else!. if you want him to be in commercials and TV shows then he needs more experience before any agent will even consider him
I hope this helps some!!! :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

To find a reputable agent, look in the yellow pages, both on-line and your own telephone book!.

Be sure that the casting agency is a member of SAG and that they do not ask you for money!. Avoid the "sound alikes", such as "USAWORLD Casting" or "You Will Be a Star Managing Co"!. Many institutions are misleading and will promise to make your child a star!. You are asked for unreasonable fees up front along with an agreement to sign!. You may get a few instruction type classes for your money, but Agents do not charge you because they receive a percentage when your child is cast in a commercial!.

Another suggestion, is to go to the "ScreenActorsGuild!.com and do a search in your area!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do you live in a major market like Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta or Seattle!?

Do NOT pay to play!. REAL AGENTS do not charge a "sign up fee"!. Real agents also do not make you go to specific photographers!.

If you are in a smaller market you may have to contend with "pay to play" scammers!. If you are in one of the larger markets you will be able to find agents with agreements with the SAG and AFTRA unions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

look in newspapers and on tv!. But my advice- he's 4! Don't pressure him!. If he wants to act, tell him he can later!. Let him be normal!. Some kids who are famous, and really good young totally go crazy later!. Examples are Micheal Jackson and Britney Spears!. You don't want him to turn out like them, do you!? So give it time before you jump into something big like that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

type in modeling agencies near minneapolis minnesota on google maps (or wherever you live)
it will show actual agencies, not scams, because they're certified through google!. good luck

(many modeling agencies also are for actors as well, and many successful child actors have come from modeling agencies!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

All agents should be free!. It depends what state your in to see what agents you get!. Elite models are in many states so you should check if there is one in yours!.

Remember don't pay any money up front!. Agents get paid when you get paid and they only get 10%!.

P!.S!.
I agree with ?AshleyWww@QuestionHome@Com

All agents are free!. Well, not free, but legit agencies don't ask you for money - They take a 10-20% cut of your paycheck when you get paid!. What you are thinking of is "schools" like John Robert Powers, which are nothing but scams!.
