Question: Why don't actors lie on their resumes!?
Hey

I've been wondering why don't actors include a few more "fake" roles they had just so it would be easier for an agent to notice them!?

Thank you in advance!.

Peace!.

Typically, resumes include the theatre company and director of the show, and though an actor could get noticed by saying 'oh, I played Eponine in Les Mis and Little Sally in Urinetown AT THE SAME TIME while holding down a part time job at Sonic', sooner or later the truth will come out when the director of Urinetown, or the director for Les Mis, or the superviser at Sonic, is called for references and your reputation with the agency is down the toilet!.

Similarly, padding your 'extra skills' section with things you can't do can come back and bite you- let's say you put down that you can yodel and the directors, impressed, ask you to yodel!. When you can't, your credibility goes down!. Remember that theatre, to some extent, is a political game and a reputation game!. You never know who might be on the panel when you audition for a big break!

Because Theatre is a small world and it wouldn't be long before they were found out!. A good agent will see a performance of an actor before signing them so you will not be gaining anything apart from a reputation as a liar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because, it will come back and bite you in the butt, like the person already said!. liars don't work in theatre!. they get chewed up and spit out if they lie too much and get caught!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They do!. Some get caught and some don't!. The real question is are you going to conduct yourself with honesty or not!? Integrity never made anyone a star, but it helped to keep them there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

cos' they have to show their talent and experience in action ; not in written words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
