Usually 'Role Play' refers to a really fun acting game where you take on the identity (or 'role') of a person, animal, thing, etc!. It's like pretending to be something else, basically!. You can play the role of something alive or dead, real or imaginary, inanimate or animate, etc, there is really no limit to it!. It's a great exercise because it forces you to use your imagination and to put yourself in the experience of someone/something else!. I've role played many things before like goats, children, an anarchist church leader, a pervert at a bus-stop, an overzealous Oprah audience member, etc, etc!.!.!.It's also a great ice-breaker for people 'cause it forces them to come out of their shells, lol :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

In the bedroom, it's usually a kinky thing to spice up the bedroom!.

In chatrooms, it's kind of like a book written between two or more people, you control one character of the book, and other people control theirs!.

To add to all that has been mentioned above, it is a common term in gaming communities!. Role playing games online have been played for well over fifteen years!. It was popular to do text based, real time online role playing using themes taken from T!.V!. shows or famous series of books, i!.e!. Anne MacCaffrey's Pern, Star Trek, etc!. I met my husband that way!. Such text based role play games could also be done via email, and probably there are still some people that play that way!.

Nowadays, examples of role playing MMOs are Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, World of Warcraft, etc!. They are role playing games because the player creates a character and plays the game using the character to interact with others, complete quests, and accomplish goals in-game!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
