Question: Footloose the Musical: Lead dance type/experience!?
Okay, so basically, my school is doing Footloose next year and I really think I can get the lead!. However, I'm just a little bit worried about the dancing!. I've been in a few shows (Most Recently High School Musical which has a lot of Choreography) and was wondering what type of dancing the character does and how much experience I should have!.

Thanks for anything you can give me!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey there,

Assuming you are a male, there are 3 male "leads" in this show:

Ren is the largest of the 3, and should be the strongest dancer!. He should be more athletic and energetic then TRAINED as a dancer!.

Willard is unable to dance, which inspires the song Let's Hear It for the Boy, where he is taught how to dance!. He either has to dance VERY well by the end of the number, or be funny enough to clearly be TRYING very hard to dance by the end of the number!.

Chuck Cranston is a strong supporting character who should be the most masculine!. Depending on the production, Chuch may or may not dance in some ensemble numbers (opening and finale)!. He has one big song (The Girl Get's Around)!. His character doesnt have TOO much in act 2!.

As I said before, these are kids who like to dance!.!.!. but arent supposed to be "trained" dancers!. The script, for example, describes one song's choreography should be "aerobic" before it turns to "dancing"!.

I hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
