Question: What is a mechanical as referred to in the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream"!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The "rude mechanicals" refers to the low-born rough tradesmen, who set out to put on a play before the Duke: Peter Quince, Bottom, Snug, Starveling, Flute & the other comic characters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They are "The Rude Mechanicals", low born, poorer characters!. They have jobs like capentry and joining, not lawyers or docotrs!.

They are laughed at by the main characters when they perform, and Bottom is tricked into thinking Titania loves him, and cursed by Puck to have donkeys ears!.

Yet these are people favourite characters, the humorous daft ones that people like, and can relate to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

they are the 'extras' if you will, not a big role, mainly for the play scenes in the play!.
