Question: Annie Get Your Gun audition!?
I'm auditioning for Annie Get Your Gun for a community theatre troup in a few weeks!.
For my audition song, would it be better to audition with a song from the show, or a song elsewhere!? What songs from other musicals are similar to those in 'Annie'!?
also, as far as monologues go, should I do one from the musical itself or from another show!? Which do directors prefer!? Should I use a comedic monologue, or one with dialect like in the show!? Or would any plain monologue to show off my acting do!?

Thanks!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Definitely do a song and monologue from somewhere OTHER than the show!. :] The monologue, preferably, shouldn't be from a monologue book, and most directors prefer that you don't perform one that requires an accent or any special dialect!. Just you will do! ^^ Although, you might want to work on the dialect for the character just in case you have to do a cold reading (but make sure you can do it well enough XD The safest thing may be to just make sure the acting is awesome and don't try the dialect just yet! ^^)!.

As for similar songs!.!.!. hmm!.!. just nothing that's too modern!. XD Haha!. Maybe something from around the same time period like My Fair Lady or The Sound of Music!? I would probably peruse some Musical Theater forums for ideas!. :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would suggest NOT doing anything from Annie Get Your Gun--beyond everything else, it seems a little bit like you're presuming to cast yourself :P

Since it's a community theatre audition, though, I suggest calling up the director or someone else associated with that particular troupe and asking them what their auditions are like!. Many community theatre troupes use cold readings rather than prepared monologues or songs for auditions!.

If they DO want prepared monologues, choose monologues that show off your talents and songs that show off your vocal range!. Directors want to do a little bit of work themselves, so you don't need to show up with a completely prepared character--just something to highlight your own talents and abilities!. I would choose an audition song that can show off your vocal range, without getting too carried away!. When I auditioned for a play, I sang "Do Re Mi" from "The sound of music" and I got a good part!. That is a song that is similar to annie as well!. I would choose a comedic monologue, just keep it clean and make sure it's funny, then you'll get the part!Www@QuestionHome@Com

use everything form the play for they can see how well you do in it and can deside what part!.!.!.good luck tips dont let your nervouses get to you be yourself and have fun and no part is too small so just have fun!
