Question: Question about Wicked!?
I was looking at Broadway schedules and stuff on wikipedia and I saw something that said Wicked's run started on October 20, 2003 and is open-ended!. Does that mean that Wicked has been playing every week for five years!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Wicked opened on Broadway* on October 30,2003!. In November of 2007, stagehands (including those working on Wicked) went on strike, so for that period of time Wicked was not performed!.

Wicked is currently 'Broadway's biggest blockbuster', playing eight times a week to sold out theatres!. One show a night Tuesday through Saturday, two shows on Sunday, and Monday is the day off!.

All current productions of Wicked worldwide:
*NYC, NY- Gershwin Theatre
Chicago,Illinois- Oriental Theatre
Los Angeles**, CA- Pantages Theatre
Second National Tour- Various theatres
Stuttgart, Germany- Palladium Theatre
Tokyo, Japan
London, England- Apollo Victoria Theatre

Upcoming Productions:
Melbourne, Australia
Mexico
Netherlands

**The Los Angeles sit down production will be moving up to San Francisco in January of next year after it closes in September!.

So Wicked will continue running for a long time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is on an open-ended run, meaning it has no set ending date!. (Unlike some Broadway shows, that have a limited run, meaning they close on a set date!.)

And of course people would still want to come see the show even if it's been on for five years, if the show is good!. Phantom has been on Broadway since 1988, and is still running on full blast!Www@QuestionHome@Com
