Question: I'm in a play and I need to learn how to stutter I'm having problems making it look and sound authentic!. Tips!?
Right now i'm either saying B--b--but or mouthing it and then just pushing it out after a few beats!.!.but its not really working!.!.!.I want to make it belivable and noticable but not let it take away from the play by making people wait too long to hear the line!.!.!.I just would like to know how an actually stutter is heard and seen!. I think that it's like playing drunk!. The temptation is to make everything you do 'drunk'!. Usually if you do a couple of things that tell the audience that you're drunk, and then drop it for the most part, they believe that you are drunk!. I think that afflictions are the same way!. Make specific choices as to when you're going to do it, and pick one letter, like 'B' that he always stutters on, and the audience will hear you stutter throughout the play, even though you're not!. As actors, we usually try and overdo it for some reason, thinking that a lot is a good thing, when less is always more!. Just an opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well the only thing I can tell you is that you must believe that you are unsure of what your saying!. BE THE CHARACTER! If you character is unsure of something then you should behave the same way which will escalate to stuttering your words!. If you believe then you will react!. Trust me =)

You can either say a certain part of a word a few times or say the word a few times like for example
"I like toast toast toast toast "
or "I- I l-like ttttoastWww@QuestionHome@Com
