Question: Two Octave Range!?
I just found out today I can sing a 2 octave range!.
Is this really good/average for singers!?
What artists have this range!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Two octaves is actually very good!. Beyond classically trained singers [like myself], you won't find too many singers in pop/rock who have a two-octave range!. Country singers generally limit themselves to about an octave, and occasionally stray out of their normal range for effect!.

I'm sure someone has mentioned Mariah Scarey and her supposed four-octave voice, but that's a fallacy!. Her piercing high notes are an affectation that is 1) not legitimately produced and not sustainable, and 2) heavily aided by sound engineering!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

mariah carey has four octaves, which is pretty incredible
toddlers have like one octave!.!. thats why all the songs they sing are basically the same notes
two to three is average, and most artists, especially lead singers in bands will have a two to three octave range!. depending on your vocal range (soprano, tenor, or whatever), you just have to find good songs to sing!. there are going to be a ton that you have the ability to sing, so I suggest that you find a particular artist who has a voice similar to yours and stick to their stuff!.

edit!.!. to the person below me!.!.
I have about three and a half octaves of sustainable whatever you said, spanning from a low E flat to a high C sharp!. four octaves is not an impossible range!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yey! yeh thats about average as some of the really good ones can sing three!. you can extend you vocal range with practise so thats why really professional singers have large ranges!. most artists have this range or better!.
Delta Goodrem has a really good range! i dont really like her music but she can sing heaps!.

i think im about 2 n a half!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Two octave range is average!. Using scientific pitch notation, where middle C = C4, vocal ranges for women are as followed:

Soprano: C4 to C6
Mezzo-soprano: A3 to A5
Contralto: G3 to G5Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's pretty average, probably even below average for a pro!. Practically all professional singers and actors on Broadway have a three octave range, some even four!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
