Never, ever audition with a song from Les Mis, unless the director *asks you* to sing a song from Les Mis!. Directors are sick to death of them and you'll hurt your chances immensely if you go with a song from Les Mis, Phantom, Rent, Chicago or Cats!. If they want you to sing a song from Les Mis, that's another story--sing the one you think shows off your voice best!. Ideally, you should choose something less well known!. If you can, choose something people haven't ever heard, or something obscure!. You're auditioning to show off your vocal ability, not that you can do a song that fits the character you want to play!.
