Hello there,
Brecht used The Threepenny Opera to comment on life during the Weimar Republic in various ways!. Until then, opera was not available to "ordinary" people and was patronised by the wealthy!. He intended his work for the common man!. He wanted untrained singers, and performed it in a club-like environment!. also, he used it to comment on some common aspects of the time, for example, currupt businessmen, prostitution and gansters!. It is loosely based on John Gay's "Beggars' Opera"!. It is meant to sound rather harsh and crude in places, and not too "operatic"!. Good luckWww@QuestionHome@Com
