Shakespeare never heard of it!. Symbolists love to paste their symbolic interpretation on to everything!. So if you know what symbolism is, just pick a scene any scene and find a place where it will stick!. the teacher who gave this assignment is a bit out of sync with theatre history!. Symbolism came into the theatre in the early 20th C !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Symbolism is kinda of a stretch, well as least for the scholarly anyway!.!.!.but this isn't a matter of literary debate!.

Symbolism as far as comparison is what I am assuming!.!.!.

Romeo and Juliet is filled what that kind of language, mostly due to the contrasting dynamics between the young lovers and the family hatred!.

Seeing as how you're not trying to cheat!.!.!. and I take it that you only use Yahoo! answers as a way to get help!.!.!. (no worries I was a bad kid, I would have cheated all the time if I could, but I'm not slick, I'd get caught)

I'll point you in the right direction, and you'll have to get the play out yourself and explain the "symbolism" being addressed!. No surprises though, this is all stuff that is really apparent on the outside!.!.!.maybe!.!.!.

Tybalt is called the "Prince of Cats"
Mercutio Act I sc iv!. "Queen Mab" (the bringer of dreams)

Fr!. Lawrence Act II sciii!. "Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here!Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear!.!.!."

Mercutio Act III sc i!. "Good King of Cats, nothing but one of your !.!.!.!."
Mercutio Act III sc i!. "No, 'tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church-door!.!.!."

[[Purposely avoided the balcony scene, over done and !.!.!. a bit to obvious for my taste]]Www@QuestionHome@Com
