Question: Singing tips!? auditioning tips!? auditioning for "gypsy"!?
im auditioning for a high-school production of gypsy!.
im really nervous because me and my friend are gonna be
the only eighth graders there, the rest are highschoolers!.
im not too much of a singer (if requested i can post a video)
and im superrr nervous because we have a
dance audition tomorrow (never taken a dance class in my life)
and a singing audition the next day (mediocre singer!.!.!.)
THEN in order to get to the acting audition (the only part im actually amazing at) you have to do well at the singing and dancing auditions!.
im thinking of auditioning for louise with the song "if mama was married"
any tips for that particular song!?!?

I auditioned for Gypsy when I was in highschool, and I did get Louise for the part!. Go on sing that song if mama was married and do a little of it not the whole song for my audition this is what I sang:
I wish Momma would marry a plain man so we could all be together!.!.!.
If Momma was married
We'd live in a house
As private as private can be
Just Momma, three ducks, five canaries,
A mouse, two monkeys, one father, six turtles
And me!.!.!.

the reason why I did that is to let the directors know that I want this part really badly, and they want to know if you can really sing and if you really got the committement to be playing this part!. Yes I was very nervous but that never stopped me!. When it comes to auditioning, don't look at the people because that will make you more nervous just pretend that there is a wall in front of you, that helps me a lot!. Of course theres the saying "if you get nervous picture the audience in there under wear" its best not to picture that because it will make you laugh in loose focus!.
Since your an 8th grader and the rest of the people are highschooler's perhaps you can audition for "baby louise" or "june", directors like casting younger students for the specific role!. There are a lot pf people who are famous in broadway and can act very well but cant sing nor dance very good!. You have many chances and no need to chicken out!. Before dancing and singing you should warm up to shake off some of the butterflys you have in your stomach!.
Everybody tells me that having butterflys in your stomach is super good because when you perform you release a lot of energy!. THAT is the most important word you need to remeber especially when it comes to dancing is "Energy" don't slack off, because they don't like that!. When your doing the dancing audition always smile and have fun with it because thats the main thing there looking for!.
