Both are Italian terms!.mezzo soprano means a voice or a voice part intermediate between soprano and contralto!. Soprano means the highest singing voice in women and children!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

mezzo sopranos are more commonly called altos!. Mezzo soprano sing lower than soprano (which is broken up in to 1st soprano and 2nd soprano)!. Mezzo sopranos also consistently sing the harmony in a song while sopranos usually sing the melody!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Soprano part is the higher note range!. Mezzo is lower down in the range (mezzo means "middle")!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
