at school ive gotten into drama club and have been in some of the shows!. its really great because its offered by the school and doesnt cost any money!. the directors give you pointers and even if you arent cast in the show, ask them for tips and im sure they'd be more than willing if theyre not busy!. there are a lot of summer camps out there and im sure you can find many online- just google "acting camps" and you can probably find one in your area!. as for learning to act by yourself- i find watching movies an extremely effective way to acting when youre alone!. have your parents or others recommend movies with really good acting, and go to blockbuster or a movie rental place and rent them!. just watching others portray classic characters is great so you can distinguish between the "damsel in distress" or "the villan"!. if you dont like some of the performances some of the actors give, think about what you would have done differently and learn from their mistakes!. reading books also helps me a LOT- it captures a lot of raw emotion and when youre acting you can draw back to those experiences and remember how you felt!. acting is capturing emotion and channeling your character!. think about different characters- their goals and what they really want, how they act the way they do!. when you get that down you can really put on a stunning performance!. when i was the lead girl part in my fall play i kept a notecard in my pocket at rehearsals where i wrote down what my characters goals where, my behaviors in all different situations and what i really wanted!. i snuck peeks at it whenever i could!. learning on your own is hard, but take advantage of your resources!. good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No offense but at some point of another you HAVE to take an acting workshop or an acting class!.!.!.!.!. without those you'll be out of the loop with new acting techniques and you don't really know if you're good or not without the outside opinion of a stranger!.!.!.!.!. If you insist on not taking an acting class in the community, take one at school, they're not as good but you still learn!.!.!.!. and acting camps tend to be more than classes

The trouble is you can't see what you're doing wrong from the perspective of the audience and you don't have the hindsight of a teacher or other professional to help you!. There's certain things you do and that you don't do!. I'm not saying you can't learn on your own but it'll be a lot harder than going to college and drama school!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
