OK, you want to start a show biz career!. Getting an agent first is not how it's done!.

There are a lot of agents who will represent you for a fee!. Others will offer to take you for no up-front fees if you'll agree to pay them for services, like classes or photo packages (or they'll send you to their "exclusive" providers)!. Do not deal with them, they'll take your money and get you no work in return!.

What you need first of all is union membership!. There are three professional unions: Actor's Equity, SAG, and AFTRA!. Each has reciprocity agreements with the others, so you only need to make it into one of them, which one doesn't matter, and their entry requirements are equally tough!. The hardest part to becoming a member is that you must have worked in qualifying professional shows!.

The reason that union membership is essential is that over 90% of professional auditions are open only to union members!. Moreover, legitimate agents will not consider you unless you have a union card; why should they deal with people who can't get in the door at most auditions!?

So what you need to do is relocate--you won't start your career in Wyoming!. Go to Chicago, New York, LA!. Start out in amateur productions and take professional lessons so you can network with people who know something about the local scene!. Read the local trade publications and find the local websites and look for those few professional auditions that are holding open auditions (and also perhaps apprenticeship productions)!. You'll get rejected a hundred times, but those who persist and who have skills will eventually get a break!.

Then you can ask about agents--the best ones are found by word-of-mouth--and you'll find one who can get you lots of work!. That agent will only get paid as a percentage of your performing salary (generally 10 to 15 percent) and will not require you to get photos or lessons from any particular provider; that's how to tell the legit ones from the scam artists!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

ok since you have experience I am guessing you have an accurate resume right!? then construct a coverletter stating why you want to be represented by a certain agency and of coarse you need a good headshot!!! now google some agencies in your area there will pop up a sort of directory of them now sind one that doesnt cost anything if it does it is a scam and look for one that is SAG affiliated

Good Luck
