Question: 16 bars upbeat song!?
So I need 16 bars of an upbeat song for a theatre audition!. Any suggestions!? I have more of an alto range and can't go up too high!. My broadway singing isn't great, but I can generally sing well!. My favorites are Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillat, but I don't know if "Love Song" or "Bottle it Up" would work for theatre!. I also sang "I give myself very good advice, but very seldom follow it," in Alice & Wonderland, but that is slow!. Thank you in advance for anyone willing to help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
"Love Song" would actually not be a bad choice, as long as you can sing it well!.
Her voice isn't TOO pop-ish so it would work for a theatre audition!.
also look up the song "What Is This Feeling" from Wicked!.
Even though its technically a duo singing, it would be good for an audition if you learned one of the parts!.!.!.!.probably the "loathing, unadulturated loathing!.!.!." part of the song!.!.!.(you'll know what i mean once you listen to it!)
good luck!

Note:
Doing a non-theatre song is not always bad!.
The community theatre i usually audition for encourages it!.
But if its big theatre (AKA BROADWAY) you should pick a theatre song!Www@QuestionHome@Com

maybe try something from the stage version of hairspray

some other suggestions:
"goodbye until tomorrow" from the last 5 years
"show off" from the drowsy chaperone

"raise the roof", "look at me now", "the life of the party" all from the wild party (by andrew lippa)
"the worst pies in london" from sweeney todd
