Mostly you need an agent to get into TV; however, in terms of acting in theatre, all you need to do is find out when and where auditions are on!. There are plenty of online and offline resources for this!.

There's a good resource of information at http://theatre!.asn!.au (the site has intermittent outages at the moment, so you may need to try the link a number of times)

I've written a post about how to get started; it lists a lot of good information, and also links to my database of websites that offer auditions and jobs in the local performing arts industry!. There's also a page on that site which explains how to get an agent (check the FAQ section)

Lastly, I'd like to add that if you're looking for a quick audition, your big break, fame, or riches, you're looking in the wrong places!. Those who make careers out of performing aren't doing it for fame or money, and seeking either will not impress directors or producers!.
