I am a professional actor!. Actually I don't think you should feel bad at all!. In my experience, it is actually much easier to get parts if you look a bit different!. You are obviously talented to be getting these parts- but your friend will get parts too, that you would'nt have a chance at!. Just as you are cast as the "pretty thin one" your friend can be cast as the "chubby one"!. it makes no difference!. Its just a difference in your casting bracket- like tall/short or blonde/red head!. Plus- as you get older you may find that she works much more than you because there are a million pretty thin girls, but not so many chubby ones!. So- less actors for the same amount of parts! It's just luck, which is all you need in this business!. Don't feel bad!. You are as different as chalk and cheese and thats fine!. It means you can support each other as you're not in competition!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

u not taking the parts wont mean that she'll get them!. I for one would not be enterained by a mediocre voice and mediocre acting skills!. If they would put someone mediocre in a leading role they are screwing themselves!. Maybe you can diet and exercise with your friend, be a real support system, shes young with diligence she can lose the weight!. Help her with her hair and make up, I really think that could make a huge difference!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We theatre people have a saying: "There are no little parts!. Only little actors!."

If your friend gives her little part her all, she's contributing an essential role to the show!.

If she stays willing to perform, she'll eventually find that there are more roles for her!. True, the theatre loves pretty people (my old MA advisor theorized that one of the things people like about theatre is that it gives them permission to gawk at gorgeous people)!. But there are plenty of roles for (example) Camryn Mannheim!.

To be a good friend, just help her be true to herself!. And to make the productions better, work on your own skills!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually it's not because she is short and chubby but the part might be needing some tall, blonde and skinny actress!. If this is in school then the teacher might have favoritism!. In hollywood, everybody can get a chance because it depends on how good is the actor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't worry! Your friend will get parts; you and she both sound as if you have the drive to be excellent actresses!.!.!.she'll be just fine, because eventually a director will say, "Hey, she played the part well and you know what!? She isn't skinny or blonde!. She would be excellent for this lead!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are not a bad friend for that!.
If it really bothers you, tell whoever runs your plays/musical to say that you think your friend deserves the lead role!.
If you don't want to do that, ask them why they chose you when you feel that she is better!.

I hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Half of being sucessful in the Entertainment industry is looks!.

If you dont look good not much else matters in this field!.

If she really cares that much have her lose some weight, hit them gym, and work on her appearance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it seems to bother you more than it does her!.

Just encourage her with these words!. "another door closes & other one opens"

That means she will have an opportunity soon again!.

Believe me I have my ups & downs all the time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Take the part!. Looks is part of acting!. You both are so young so she can lose weight!. Tell her to speak with her doctor about it!. There is no reason that she should be overweight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Encourage her more!. Playing lead or not, everybody got their role on the stage!. And everybody lead to their role!.

Don't stop because of her, which will make her even sad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is the sad truth about theater!.!.!.!.It often times is looks over skill!.!.!.!.!.its sad people think you do an amazing job (not saying you don't) but the real talent is hidden behind her looks and snobbish directors!. I don't think that the brown hair is what they are looking at (I'm brown haired and sexy! j/k) but if she is shorter and chubby then they do look at that!. Good news though!. Both of you will be growing!. You friend will get taller and loose some of her chubbiness and you will get even more beautiful!. also you are 13 and you'll get even better and acting and sing and land the lead roles you deserve!Www@QuestionHome@Com
