Question: Audition help!.!.!.accent or no accent!?
Hey,
I'm going in an acting competition where I perform a monologue!. I was wondering if I should do my monologue in an accent!?
My accents are really good and this comes from people who actually have the accent!.

My monologue has a southern american accent to it!.
Do you think I should keep my own accent for the monologue or do an accent!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really depends on the sort of character you are trying to portray!.!.!. Is the accent appropriate to what you are saying!? If it is a serious, emotional type monologue, it would probably be more "genuine" if you use your own accent!. However, if it is humorous or comedic, an accent would be entirely appropriate!
Another idea is that if you use you own accent, and you are telling some sort of story which includes quotes from other people, you could use an accent for the quotes! That would make it funny!.!.!.anywho, good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

if the part is for a southern type of person then defenitly use the accent!. the judges love too see that you have better talent than the others!. just make sure you can get it spot on GOOD LUCKWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well you should ask people to listen and see if you accent is good!. If not I would do it in a normal acting voice!. See if you sound weird then everyone will be focused on the "weird" voice ;/ Understand!? So if your good go 4 itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Whatever you think produces the best effect and is the best portrayal of the character!.!.!.the more authentic it seems the more believable it is!.!.!.verses someone that can't act!.!.!.why not do the best you can!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

go alittle bit light on the accent

every now and then make it noticeable but keep your mind on what the character is thinking and doingWww@QuestionHome@Com

If the monologue takes place in the South then by all means use the accent to show off your abilities!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should ask the director or who ever is in charge if it would be ok for you to use the accent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
