Question: Staged Readings!?
We're thinking about doing monthly staged readings of popular plays at a local bookstore/coffee house in order to raise awareness and participation in our community theatre!.

We're not planning on charging, but rather accepting donations to cover script costs and whatnot!. We would be encouraging patrons to participate in the next reading if they wish in order to perhaps get more people into the theatre!.

Has anyone else done this with their community theatre!? Advice!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

We do this at our theatre!.!.!.They have their own committee and everything!. A really nice thing about "Reader's" is that a lot of our older members participate and it gives them a chance to "act" while not having to memorize so much!. also, if you gear it towards a certain group, like seniors, you can get grant funding!.!.!.We have a very active program! And we get a nice little crowd because we serve free refreshments!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great idea!. Just go to the bookstore and set it up, get the community theatre bunch behind it and get the local paper to give you some converage!. When a group did this where I lived they did not ask for donations, they just absorbed the minor costs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
