Hi im 15 years old and plan on going to california for the summer and im trying to figure how much money to save up for but i need to jump straight into acting as soon as i get there so how can i get an agent befor i leave florida is it possible to get one so as soon as i get there that i get jobs to pay for things me and my family dont have alot of money and will be lucky to make 1000 to go there for my acting i need helo with this problem with serious answers and thankyou very much its my dream to act should i stay at a motel is it cheap there and i prefer the agency Beverly Hecth in burbank whatever one is find if you can find out the information for me and tell me that will be nice thank you!. andi wont give money to anybody because there a scam i know that!.:)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you a member of one of the acting unions--Actor's Equity, SAG, or AFTRA!?

If not, no legitimate agent will want to give you the time of day!. Only union members can get into over 90% of the professional auditions, and since the legit agents (as you know) only make their money from a percentage of your acting pay, having you closed out of almost all of the professional auditions is kind of like taking in a stray puppy for them--there's no decent expectation of making a profit!.

And look, going to California as a tourist or transient and hoping to start a career is also unlikely!. Do you live close to Orlando!? If so, try to start your career there!. As a minor, you'll need to take a parent along to the audition; and as a 15-year-old, you'll probably be passed over for 18-year-olds who can look and play 15 (ref!. Ellen Page in "Juno" for a recent example)--18+ year olds don't involve child labor laws!. The main goal is to qualify for the union card; then you can get referrals to agents by word of mouth from fellow performers, who will know more about who's good now than you're likely to find on here!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
