First, be as professional as possible. Second, choose a monologue that is both funny and serious. There is a wonderful monologue in "Crimes of the Heart" where Babe describes how and why she shot her husband. It is both funny and touching.
Embody the character you are portraying. Focus and project. If you have to do two monologues, choose a funny one and a classical one. Show you have a wide range of emotions and that your dedication to the character is solid.
Good luck to you and NEVER give up!

I am not a director but I bet my two cents on that there is no such thing as a perfect casting. Not as you think it is any way.

Many directors can tell you stories of how they found theyre dream team for that production but it mostly all came down to this: Before casting begins every producer had worked on their wish list for that part. They have sorted out minimum requirement such as a young white girl that speaks with an spanish accent and they have a vision in theyre head about what they want. So theyre starts doing auditions and sent prospects to agents and then they just put aside everything that doesnt fit into theyre minimum requirements. While doing this theyre search for theyre goldcoin an actor that fits perfect for that part. If they find what theyre looking for that one got the job if not they continue to narrow the number of actors just like an idol competition. And you need to be that lucky to get a major part.

So the best thing you can do at an audtion is to do it as good as you can and avoid any pit that will kill your chances. And keep your fingers crossed! Johan

That would be hard to do, ever persons different . . . . . .

try to cover all area's. comedy always helps. use Lot's of emotion. extricate a lot. (directors like that) use a lot of emotion. make sure not to look at the judges. use forth wall and cheet front
