Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Coud I get some help in finding a modern monologue?

Question:I've searched through the archives and can't find anything that is all too helpful for what I'm looking for. I am looking for a minute long monologue, but from a modern play. All the sites I've found so far only have classical ones, such as Shakespeare and the likes. If anyone has either a good monologue or just a site that does have modern monologues on it- the help would be much appreciated.

Well, there's a character of Lopohkin in Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. I like it for a monologue, near the end of act 3, he talks about how he bought the orchard at the auction. However, he is possibly around 50 years old. There is Yepikhodov, who is about 20, and Trofimov, who's probably mid 30s. They also have some good moments. Yepikhodov's are usually comic, as he's a bumbling fool.

I'd suggest you check out Chekhov plays, though. They're held in high esteem by the acting community and are modern, though translated from Russian.

look into Authur Miller and Tennessee Williams plays, just about any monologue from any of their pays is worth doing.
