Although starting young could help in some intstances, it doesn't always give you an upper hand. For some roles, directors are looking for raw talent, which is essentially actors who haven't been trained. Sometimes people go through so much acting training that they become slick and predictable.

And also, acting is different from...say...dancing in that your career doesn't really 'end.' With a dancing career, there comes a time when you just physically cannot continue. But with acting, there are roles for a variety of ages. If you want to get started, get started!

It's never too late to start acting. The best time to start is right now. Whatever age you are at this moment is fine you just have to start. Kevin from the jonas brothers didn't get famous until he was like 18 and other people get famous when they are like 5 it doesn't matter what age you are just start acting.
