Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How do you become an actress/actor?

Question:Acting is a life long dream for me I need to question what else I have to do. It would be good if somebody could let me know when I need to enrole in an agency or if there are open auditions for anything. I want to become a big actress but I don't know how. If you have any applications for an acting or singing career please tell me. Thank you!

1. take acting classes
2. start building your resume by doing as much community theater and student films as possible
3. get headshot and create a resume
4. submit these to agents and casting directors. (http://talentagents.blogspot.com/2008/03... has a list of reputable talent agencies)
5. go to auditions that your agent sends you to and hopefully be good enough to book jobs

http://www.actingcareerstartup.com and http://actingbiz.com have great articles about everything you need to know to start out in the business.

You go to an acting calss and ask the teacher if your good enough to get into the buisness. Ask them for a reccommendation on an agent.

you don't just become one. all the greats actors and actresses started out just like you. takes some acting classes and ask your teachers if they know about any auditions anywhere. I great place is American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco CA. I take classes there and I LOVE it. They are also the ones who do A Christmas Carol every year. Good Luck!

It's a lot of work. I'm assuming that you want to be involved with film/TV. You should probably take classes, and audition whenever possible. Commercials might be a good place to start. Do you have any other talents? Work on those as well, so you will stand out from others who are audition for the same part. You'll need to create a resume that list your acting experience as well as any other talents you have (dancing, singing, speaking in other dialects, et c.). Eventually you'll probably want to get headshots.

Finish school!!
