Question:For live studio audience TV shows ex. Hannah Montana or the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Do they cut in the middle of the final run through [[ with the audience ]] for commercial breaks? I'm just really curious because I'm going to try out for Hannah Montana some time this year. And I'm confused.

Of course they cut. And they do the scene more than once until it is the way the director wants it. Also, keep in mind, many many shows are taped WITHOUT an audience and a laugh track is added later. However, even live, they stop and start. It is not presented like a play to the audience.

You mean like Will and Grace Live?

because yea. They cut for commercials. For anything they cut for commercials.. Even football

on live shows like oprah and other talk shows, yes they do what you were saying.
but just so you know, NO show on disney channel or nick or almost any show execpt for saturday night live is recorded in front of a live studio audience. most shows stopped doing this by the late 70s. probably because when some actors cracked jokes that were supposed to be funny, they got no laughs and the makers got tired of it. its really too bad.
hannah montana uses automated laughs. if you listen closely, you can hear that the same laugh is sometimes used 4 or 5 times throughout the show.
so unfortunately if youre on hannah montana, youll be doing it for the director, not an audience.

Most shows, with the exception of daytime talk shows or game shows, are not taped in front of a live audience (that's why some used to make it a point to say they are).

They don't record in "real time," i.e. keeping the clock running to see if it fits into the schedule. Many scenes are re-shot, especially if they want different camera angles.

For spontaneous-sounding laughter, they sometimes show the taped show to an audience to get their responses. Of course, they also use laugh tracks.
