Wake up an hour earlier than you usually do. Drink hot tea, preferably Throat Coat herbal tea (from Traditional Medicinals). I detest the taste of the stuff, but I can attest that it works.

Vocalize in a low register for 10-15 minutes. DO NOT "hem" and clear your throat. Cough instead. Sing scales, low to high. Sigh, high to low. Gulp, and keep the water coming.

DO NOT STRAIN! If your throat feels uncomfortable, have some more hot tea.

Once the "burrs" are out of your voice, stretch your body, loosen up, and talk in a slightly louder-than-normal voice.

This above all: support your voice from your belly.

I have done Office gigs at 6AM, and these tips have worked for me.

Keep quiet and humm to yourself....

Gertrude McFuzz- I actually played that in our last play!

1. Tea, tea, tea- honey is good too. Avoid dairy, it helps builds up mucus on the back of your throat.
2. Have a bottle of water and drink it up before and during the show.
3. Do warmups constantly. (scales, songs)

And, with that part, if your voice cracks, pair it with an extra-silly face or gesture and no one will know it was a mistake!

Break a tail and good luck!
