It sounds like what you really need are some acting classes. You jumped from being shy to wanting to improve your acting to wanting to find an agent. An agent won't do you much good at the moment unless you can act.
First things first. It's so normal unfortunately that people want to just jump in to an acting career without the basics.
Start taking classes. Here is a list of 23 reasons why you shoud: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/takin...

Then at the same time, you could maybe get some experience through school plays and/or community theatre if possible.

Also, try and find out what agents do and what they can do for you. You should know that before going to look for representation. Often times what we see here on Answers are kids who say they have a meeting with an agent the next day and they are panicking because they don't know what to expect.
When you do get a call from an agent you contact, don't be afraid to ask questions about what to expect. Also find out what an agent interview might be like, so you will be prepared for questions he/she might ask as well as monologues you might need to prepare.

Good luck!

1. good! ur slowly improving and breaking out of your dim shell. Keep it up and u'll not be shy anymore.

2. pratice, pratice, practice. --and research. For example, if your acting like a doctor in a play, you need to reseach the things that doctor does, says, yeah. then, you practice.

3. one thing=DON;T SEARCH IT ONLINE!. ask people you kno such as your teachers or I THINk yellowpages.

Yeah.I would LOVE to act. Therefore Ive picked up GCSE Drama to help me on my way.!!
1)Yep,im shy too!!Go for walks to in busy areas to improve self-condience and shyness.
2)Try joining a class. At your local lesuire center?Or a Drama Club at school.
3)Look for auditions near you and go to them.If you get it,a good agent will notice you.

Good luck!

you need to audition for shows, there are not very many options. an agent is not going to take on someone who has no experience. doing live theater is a great way to learn, but you can't just walk into an agent off the street, they won't take you on, their job is to find professional actors jobs. Hire an acting coach, they always have connections to local auditions that they can prepare you for.

one solution for all three problems

look into a local theatre. one of the easiest ways to get in the business is through connections - so, start building up a reputation. you might start by asking to help backstage in make-up, costuming, organization, volunteering, go from there.

once you've volunteered, they will know you and you don't have to worry about being labeled as shy. secondly, you will learn and watch hands-on with the actors. you may be asked to substitute if they are absent one day and that gives you a sure chance to impress them. lastly, they will without a doubt be likely to give you opportunities later if they see you are a hard worker. and if you have a personal relationship as an assistant with all in the cast, you will get help from anyone.

lastly, the one thing i learned from doing it is that you have to get over rejection. look at each setback as an opportunity to step forward. if you don't make a play, try the backstage. thats better than crying over it.

or you can just sign up for MADE...

the best way to improve is to take classes, preferably with lots of people if you want to break out of your shell.

my advice to overcoming stage fright: don't think about whos watching. just do it. take the risk and enjoy the feeling of not knowing how itll turn out. have fun with it!
