Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How do you find agents who aren't scams?

Question:Just pick agents who are SAG frachised. But if you are under 18, your parents have to register you with an agent. You will need a resume of lots of experience and training (professional classes) and a head shot. You ready?

What do you mean agents? Celebrity agents? Secret agents? You don't need to have a celebrity agent to become an actor or actress. Just go to an audition or something. Here's a number I saw on the commercial. 1-(888)-295-4441. The first 200 callers get to audition. I hope it helps!

First of all--- ignore commercials like the one mentioned in the comment before mine. NEVER call a 1-800 number where the first X people get to audition! Auditions should be based on headshot, resume, and character TYPE.

The truth is just do your homework! Look up the agency, talk to theatres about their perspective of the agency. IF AN AGENCY EVER DEMANDS MONEY FROM YOU BEFORE YOU BOOK A PAYING JOB THEN THEY ARE A SCAM. If it seems too good to be true then it is. Period.

Well, like TheaterDoc said, you'll want one that is SAG franchised. I found a very detailed list of agents, what unions they are franchised with, and what specifically the are looking for at http://www.insidebrandedentertainment.co... . When looking at this list make sure to check the parenthesis right next to the agency name and before sending submissions to them check to see if they are franchised with either SAG, AFTRA, or EQUITY(for theater actors). SAG would be best though. For a list that cuts out the searching but doesn't offer as much detail, go to http://talentagents.blogspot.com/2008/03... .
