Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How should you act in auditions?

Question:I have been to a number of auditions in which some I got the part and others I didn't. I am fifteen years old and I really want to know what a casting agent or acting agent is looking for when somebody comes in.
I have an audition with an agent in a few weeks and I want to know what I have to do to stand out.

Be yourself. You’re 15 years old and when a casting director or an agent meets you, they want to a see a real teenager, not a teen actor. When you audition for a role, use your real life experience. If the part calls for a teen who plays for his high school basketball team and basketball is one of your hobbies, use your experience to make it real. If you don’t have the life experience, then use your imagination to make it look real.

Also, an agent or casting director may ask you “Tell me something about yourself.” Tell them a short story about something interesting that’s happened to you. Don’t worry too much about impressing anyone. Reveal who you are naturally. Trust me, that’ll be enough. You’ll be surprised at how many more roles you’ll start booking. Best of luck to you.

smile alot!! be bubbly and really show of the fun exciting side to your personality. act like you know what your doing and youve done it a million times before. also confidence is key! you need to be fun and confident to win a casting director over!
