Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Monologue for an acting competition.?

Question:I have been looking all over google for great monologues but I can't find a great one.
I'm going in an acting competition in two months and I desperately want to take a place (1st, 2nd or 3rd). I am 15 years old and I have been acting since I was 5. I have already performed a load of monologues but I want to try a new one.
Also, do you think humorous monologues or dramatic monologues are more effective in competitions?

As a casting judge, I can tell you that I definitely do NOT want to hear one more depressing monologue! I have sat through so many about suicide/death in family/murderous leanings/etc. They are WAY overdone. Also, that monologue from Cinderella's stepsister's point of view is overdone.

There is a slim book of monologues called "Ice Babies in Oz" that has some interesting ones. Take a look!

yea, Theres this one I do called Stepsister speaks out. (if you dont already know it) You can find it easily online. its humorous and dramatic at the same time.

They go more for contrasting ones

Well, nevermind about the stepsister thing- I thought it was great. I guess it would be boring if everbody did the monologue the same way
