Everyone's experience is different. In my experience most of my auditions were in the afternoon and most of my children's have been as well. Soaps had a certain schedule, you were either called for the morning shift or the late morning. The earlier one, you were done by lunch! The later one you could be there until evening. Sitcoms with a live audience rehearsed all week and shot on a certain day with a live audience. Sometimes certain scenes were taped depending on if they had to be done with special effects or on location. Hour dramas are shot from early morning to late at night almost without exception, sometimes 6 days a week because sometimes it depends on when they can get a certain location. As for seasons...?? It depends. Pilot season is usually roughly December through April when casting for new shows is happening. There is always filming for something going on... regular season tv shows go from summer through early spring or so. Every show has it's own timeline. Films are always shooting but if they plan to use someone who is usually on a tv show they'll shoot during late spring to early summer :-)

Many actors who are not regularly working actors do have a 'regular' job. They do it until they get fired because they kept not showing up when they had an audition or whatever. Nature of the beast :-) This is all approximate because really there is no hard and fast rule about anything in this biz...

Auditions can take place anywhere from early morning to late evening; in other words, they go out all the time.

Usually TV actors have a 6:00 AM call; for film, it can vary according to that day's particular needs.

Most actors do have a second job. A very small percentage of AFTRA/SAG actors are working at any one time.

Film and tv series work begins about 5am, soaps begin even earlier, filming goes on until evening. Most actors have a second job when they are not acting. A very small percentage of actors make a living at it. Film making goes on year round.
