Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Is this how I become a Hollywood star?

Question:I want to a job in the entertainment business and eventually become a tv and movies star.

I'm not sure where in Hollywood to get discovered.

A friend told me to hang out by the Del Taco on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Highland in Hollywood or up on Sunset Blvd in that area. He said if I hang out there long enough, someone will discover me and offer me a job.

Is this true?

No.. that is a good way to get assaulted.

You need to learn to be an actor, take classes- audition for things and hope that you are the one of the .0005% of "actors" who make a living doing it

be a model
den be on advertz

lol um, seriously?? Maybe they'll offer you a job as a hooker! Your "friend" was pulling your leg. You have to wise up if you want to break into this industry. You may meet people who will intentionally try to get you do things you may not want to do, but because you don't know any better, you do them. Knowledge is power and is the way to avoid be scammed (and/or killed, raped, mugged, etc)

No one gets "discovered". You have to work your a$$ just like all the other thousands of aspiring actors in LA. Get into some classes, there are tons in LA. Read books on the business so you know what's legit and what's not. Heck, there are books devoted to pursuing acting IN LA with lists of resources. So, go do some of your own research.

** Thank god that was an April Fools joke! There are enough dumb questions on this board though that there was no reason to question it's authenticity.

everyone stop being mean. trying to discourage people is not the best way to do things, and who knows? you could be squashing a truly talented person. If all of the famous actors and actresses we know today had given up because someone told them that .00005% of people who try acting are actually successful at it, there'd be no industry.

Anyway, actshawnn, I suggest getting in touch with an agency that can help you find auditions. Another thing you should do is look online for open auditions in your area. There are probably almost as many struggling directors as there are actors, and those directors all need actors to work for them. So there are lots of opportunities for actors.
Good luck, try your hardest and love what you do, and even if the entire world never learns your name, it will have been worth it

wow I sound like a corny disney movie...

Wake up moi! The truly gifted will not give up and will make it. They and only they are that small percentage. It is obvious that most all of those who ask questions on Yahoo Answers are never going to do anything. When they discover how hard it is or grow up a little or learn that they have no talent, they will disappear as well they should.
