Musical for Teens?

Question:I am a published and produced palywright/lyricist. I am currently working on an original muiscal melodrama that I hope to market to high schools (as well as community theaers) around the country. I think the score is very contemporary and Broadway/ Disney-like. I would like to get reactions from teens interested in musical theater. I can send MP3's.

I think a musical aimed at teens is a good idea. A tip: if you want high schools to do it, you should make the set fairly simple. Another thing: you may want to take into consideration that I know very few guys who 1. Can carry a tune and 2. Would be interested in a musical.
The broadway/disney feel is cool. We're doing High School Musical and the stage version is a ton better than the movie.

I suggest that you forget the whole disney style storylines but you should keep their song styles. Us teens hate the stupid disney story lines eg. HSM because they are all so common and cheesy. If you want to make a good musical it should have a really original storyline but it has to kindov relate to teens but not be too patronizing. HSM is slightly patronizing...lik learning a lesson at the end of the movie. It would also help if the musical was funny or even touching.
