Well, so far the only plans they have for the movie are for it to open/start filming in 2014, ten years after it opened on Broadway.

So it probably will still be around in 8-10 years.

Anyone who has seen this musical is deeply moved and affected by it. It is the only musical about women and their friendships, relationships, lives, and hopes that has been so extremely successful because of the premise it stemmed from (Wizard of OZ, which everyone knows).

oh most definitely if you check on Broadway it'll tell you that Wicked is the biggest grossing show on Broadway.
