While it is true that some community theatres may have a spot for younger kids. I only ever see that happen in musicals. hardly any straight plays have preteens in them. I would encourage you to try children's theatre (if there are any in your area. At 11 you might not get any major parts but you will still get some experience. I would also say if you are starting out. go to enough plays or audition for enough plays that you identify a fellow actress that you admire. try and figure out their technique. apply that to what you do and that will get you better roles early!

Join a drama club outside school! If you find a good one they can be really fun as well as building your acting skills. Pursue your hobby and get yourself known within the club, and if there are any oppurtunities to act in local shows or plays etc. take them! You never know, someone out there could be watching and notice you, and maybe even tell a talent spotter about you! :]

Check out local community theaters. They may be doing a play this season that requires a young actress such as yourself. If your school doesn't provide Drama classes or a club, start your own. Meet with interested students and read (age appropriate) scripts out loud, everyone taking parts. I'm certain your English teacher can help with this, they usually have some background in American Theatre. Perhaps you could put together a small acting troupe and present a free show for young children in a local park. Lots of ways to hone your skills while you're still in elementary school.
Good luck!

Have your folks help look for a youth or kids theatre group in your area. There is almost no call for preteens in the professional theatre.
