It's not from a play. It was written as a cabaret song by the two ladies - I forget their names. Chenoweth was not the first to sing it though, but any stretch of the means. It was around before she started doing it. Anyhow - Interesting fact to the opposite - The two writers actually were planning on writing a musical based on the song, but it never materialized.

The song existed LONG before 2005.
