I need to get some background info on the character mabel from an ideal husband,

what kind of girl is she, should she be played confident or shy,
how flirty should she be played,

is she really in love with goring even in the beginning, is goring alot older than her

Shaw is famous for writing long prefaces to his plays, perhaps reading that would help. Go through the entire script and write down anything any character including herself or stage direction says about her, look carefully at what she says and how she says it. From these things and your director's help, for heavens sake ask his or her help with such questions as these, you will have the character down.
